Hi All, hope you are having a good new year so far. Thought I ought to add this to my blog, although it is already on face book and Flickr.
In November last year at the British Polymer Clay Guild's Anniversary Party/AGM, the fantastic polymer clay artist Sue Heaser gave us all a demonstration on the Pietre Dure style of polymer clay art. This involves inlaying multiple pieces of coloured/patterned clay into a background of clay to build up a picture. I have been desperate to have a go ever since and finally managed to find the time. It took about 24 hours to do, and is on a wooden lid box, and I was more than a little devastated when the box cracked in the oven and my piece of work with it. However I have patched up the cracks, and although I may have to keep it as a piece of wall art rather than a useful box, I am still quite pleased with it.
I am now working on a bigger project, having made the box from Polymer Clay as well, and am keeping my fingers crossed that it gets through the oven okay during the multiple baking's I am doing. Will post details if it comes out okay, but may take a couple of weeks more to finish!! Do check out Sue's website for examples of her work www.sueheaser.com
